Arnie “Woo Woo” Ginsburg debuts on WBOS-AM radio.

Born in Brookline on August 5, 1926, he is the son of Russian immigrants Paul and Sophia (Charak) Ginsburg, and went to work after high school as a sound engineer. After filling in for the regular disc jockey, Ginsburg is given his own program and becomes one of the most popular disc jockeys in New England, subsequently moving to WMEX, WRKO, , and WEEI. KISS 108 owner Richie Balsbaugh later comments, “He was like Mr. Radio.” Ginsburg marries his partner of more than 40 years, Carlos Vega, in 2016. He dies in Ogunquit, Maine, on June 26, 2020.
